The Norwich (CT) Clean Cities Coalition is assisting one of its stakeholders in evaluating the potential of converting its 7 trash trucks from diesel to CNG including a "payback analysis". Did you do such an analysis for the City of Chesapeake or did another agency do such an analysis? If so would you share that information with us? Also, please advise which company is doing the conversions and a contact person there. Also can you advise of the cost of the conversion of a single truck?

Thank you,

John Kennedy

I admire what the commonwealth of Virginia has planned for the environment. Something else that's related to this post is this video I saw on YouTube. You have to see it. http://youtu.be/EWiekzB8rII

Remember that there is a significant difference in the invasive methods for conversions. Most systems on the market replace certain components that were part of the OEM's safety, diagnostic and emissions controls. Other systems send altered or false readings to the stock ECU or PCM to keep it from setting off Malfunction Indicator Lights (dummy lights).

A system that does not use either of these methods is considered an after market upgrade, and must comply with all current emission standards. In this scenario, no "re-certification" is required because none of the original components on the engine were altered or tampered with.
