Alt Fuels Odyssey Day – Oct 15, 2010

On Friday, October 15th 2010, Virginia Clean Cities will be holding an pair of events in coordination with National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium’s Odyssey Day. These events will be held in Harrisonburg and in Hampton Roads.

Students, policy makers, media, VCC stakeholders, manufacturers, fuel suppliers, and interested citizens from all around the Commonwealth will be invited to join us here at JMU for a full day to learn about alternative fuel vehicles. This will be a great opportunity to be part of a nation-wide effort to add momentum to the alternative vehicle landscape.

Virginia Biodiesel Buy Down Grant Fund Request for Proposals

In partnership with Virginia Clean Cities, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Quality Management Association (MARAMA) is soliciting applications from eligible parties interested in participating in the Statewide Biodiesel Buy Down under the Virginia Diesel Emission Reduction Recovery Grant. The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded funds to the Commonwealth of Virginia under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to support this program. Eligible Virginia State diesel fleets operating in the Commonwealth of Virginia interested in seeking funding to address potential incremental costs of using large volumes of biodiesel blends over regular diesel are encouraged to apply.

VCC Co-Hosts Alternative Fuel Education Workshop

On May 20th, Virginia Clean Cities co-hosted an Alternative Fuels Workshop with the national trade associations of the alternative fuels industry. The event was held in Chantilly, VA at the headquarters of TV Worldwide. There were a wide range of presentations from experts in several alternative fuels including propane, ethanol, CNG, and biodiesel. There was also a discussion on various alternative fuel use incentives and next steps for those interested. Hydrogen Ride and Drive Video

Virginia Get Ready Roundtable

The Virginia Get Ready Roundtable has gathered for an introductory meeting on May 18, 2010 and established an initial plan for deployment of electric vehicles in Virginia. Virginia Utilities have installed and converted Prius vehicles, bucket trucks, and have agreed to purchase test Volt units when available. The Commonwealth has installed free access vehicle charging units at one rest area. Virginia entities are assessing charging capacity, investment needs, and roles in jumpstarting vehicle adoption and infrastructure deployment.

E85 Stations Map Updated VA, MD, DC – April 2010

Southeast Propane Autogas Development Program About to Take Off

April 17th marked a milestone moment in the propane corridor project. Over 40 stakeholders, from as far away as Colorado and Texas, convened at VCC’s James Madison University office to participate in a project kickoff meeting. The event began Thursday evening with a reception at the beautiful JMU Arboretum. Friday’s main topics focused around the current status, what the immediate next steps were, and the big picture view of the implementation of this historic project. The energy was contagious and the spirits were high as we all saw the scope and potential of this initiative unfold. We are fortunate to have such quality partners and stakeholders, and we are all looking forward to watching this massive project unfold!
