Overview: Implement 17 propane stations, convert over 1,100 vehicles to propane, conduct propane road shows in 9 southeastern states, deploy a national marketing and outreach campaign. Project will eliminate over 16,000 tons of pollutants (criteria and GHG) over the 4 years, displace 15,772,100 gallons of gasoline, and create/retain 600 jobs.
Overview: VCC provides support for the Virginia Port Authority’s Green Operators program. Specifically, VCC helped come up with the pilot programs framework, provides technical assistance to potential GO Carrier participants, works to create and expand the GO Shipper components of the program, creates GO program materials, and serves as the liaison between program participants, the VPA, VDEQ, MARAMA, and EPA.

This is the first time a public school is installing fuel operated heaters on school buses for the specific purpose of limiting idling and is collecting data to determine the heaters actual effect on idling of school buses.

Virginia Clean Cities ARRA Diesel Emissions Reduction Program
Overview: Provide support and pass-through funding for HRT retrofits, Chesapeake vehicle purchases, Chesterfield County refuse hybrid, and Spotsylvania propane school buses.
Overview: Retrofit school buses with DOCs, biodiesel buy-down program to subsidize cost of biodiesel blend, contribute to purchase of propane bus(es), idle reduction campaign.
VA-MD-DC Hydrogen Education for Decision Makers Project
Overview: The objectives of this project is to provide hydrogen and fuel cell technology learning opportunities through seminars, multi-media and video resources, technical support, and demonstrations to local and state government and decision makers in order to help state and local government leaders become familiar with hydrogen and how it fits in the portfolio of near-term and long-term energy choices, develop an accurate understanding of hydrogen safety, recognize opportunities, and understand their part in facilitating use of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Milestones include: hosting up to 12 seminars over 2 years in VA-MD-DC, produce 2 MotorWeek videos, produce case studies, and purchase small demonstration unit.

Support of Clean Cities VA Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Award
Overview: Virginia Clean Cities partnered with Sustainable Energy Strategies to provide support for retailers applying for funding through Clean Cities Area of Interest 1 opportunity. VCC would help with marketing and outreach support of new biofuels stations in VA (grand openings).
Federal Fleet Retailer Workshop
Overview: Host a follow-up workshop to the federal fleets workshop held in spring 2009 to bring together mandated and voluntary fleets as well as alternative fuel retailers. Workshop is structured as working meeting to determine best location for alternative fuel stations. NREL provides maps and supporting information. Our role is to get the right people there, plan the meeting and execute.
